“Are you lost?”
It was the somewhat unusual question our relationship started with in May 2015. It soon turned out that in spite of speaking different mother tongues, we share the same love language: we are both obsessed with delicious food. Along with our love, a dream began to take shape: a restaurant that would combine the tastes evoking our – Portuguese and Hungarian – childhood with modern top gastronomy in an informal still elegant style. Now, after 5 years we are aware of the answer to that particular first question: fortunately enough neither of us is lost, we have definitely found our path together. And so that our guests wouldn’t be lost either, in our restaurant we can show them what the essence of life and food means.
Situated in Downtown of Budapest, Essencia Restaurant-Tiago & Éva features the taste of portuguese and hungarian cuisine from childhood memories with modern top gastronomy.
Tiago Sabarigo, Chef and Owner, born in Évora, Portugal, where he studied and started to work in hospitality. Tiago worked at prestigious and high quality places such as Ritz Four Seasons in Lisbon, Petrus by Gordon Ramsay, Texture Restaurant & Champagne Bar and Costes Downtown. Tiago's kitchen features the harmony, balance with a different combinations of flavors and textures. Since 5 years in Budapest, Tiago along side with his wife, Éva, planned a new project by the name of Essencia.
The passion of hospitality comes from her childhood, so it was never a question to work in this area.Her professional education started in international luxury hotels, and after spending 10 years in front of house positions, she left the world of hotels for a dream with his husband, Tiago- which is Essencia Restaurant. In Essencia as private dining and reservations manager she is ensuring a flawless, high-class, and unique dining experience.
